Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)
Description: First aiders are an integral part of workplace safety. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.
Overview: During this 1 day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding and minor injuries. FREC 3 – Level 3 Award in First Response in Emergency Care (5 Days)
Description : The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) (FREC3) provides all the essential skills required by the HSE for first aid, making it the top qualification for event cover. For those looking to advance further, it also serves as the first step towards a career in prehospital care.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, ideal for those looking to work or volunteer as a first responder.
Among the first to arrive at a scene, first responders typically include police officers, firefighters, and those providing medical cover at festivals and events such as Emergency/Community First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives and Security Guards as well as those working in high risk environments including the military, power stations, agriculture and manufacturing.
Overview: This informative, hands-on course fulfils the competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at level D, providing the practical skills needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency care situations. First Aid at Work Annual Refresher (1 day)
Description: HSE guidelines state that employers should ensure their first aiders remain competent to perform their role. As such, it is strongly recommended that first aiders undertake annual refresher training to practise their skills and update their knowledge on the latest first aid procedures.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Annual Refresher) (RQF) qualification is specifically designed to allow qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly, until requalification training is required.
Overview: Over a half day period, learners will leave with a renewed confidence having had the opportunity to practise essential first aid procedures, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, recovery position, CPR, choking and more.
Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (1 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after children.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in-line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for:
- Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements.
- Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children, and wants to learn key paediatric first aid skills.
Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.
Overview: During this 1 day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, seizures, external bleeding and more.
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (3 day)
Description: The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also take into account the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for:
- Those who have gained a level 2 and/or level 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements.
- Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate in order to comply with the EYFS requirements.
- Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents and grandparents who want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.
Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.
Overview: Over a 2 day period, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: assessing an emergency situation, dealing with an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, meningitis, head and spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, asthma and more.
Combined Emergency First Aid at Work & Emergency Paediatric First Aid at Work (1 Extended day)
Description: Combining the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) into 1 extended day of classroom learning, this specially designed course provides the skills and knowledge needed to provide both emergency adult and paediatric first aid. This minimises the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications.
Intended Audience: Streamlined perfectly to avoid the duplication of topics associated with attending both the Emergency First Aid at Work and Emergency Paediatric First Aid courses separately, the Combined Emergency First Aid at Work and Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been specifically designed for those who work in settings that require both First Aiders and Paediatric First Aiders, such as schools, sports clubs or other childcare settings.
Overview: Over 1 extended day, learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to provide effective first aid for adults, children and infants. Topics include: CPR and AED use, choking, wounds and bleeding, unconscious casualty and more.
Please note that learners will be required to repeat the full 1 day course in order to requalify.
Combined First Aid at Work & Paediatric (3 Extended Days)
Description: Combining the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) into 3 extended days of classroom learning, this specially designed course provides the skills and knowledge needed to provide both adult and paediatric first aid, whilst minimising the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications.

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (0.5 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support and the management of anaphylaxis.
The content of this qualification has been approved by the Anaphylaxis Campaign.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.
Overview: Over a half day period, successful learners will gain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: managing a casualty with anaphylaxis, CPR, common anaphylaxis triggers, signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, treatment and more. This qualification can be delivered as a standalone course (minimum of 3 hours 45 minutes) or as a ‘bolt on’ to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.
Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (1 Day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the life-saving techniques needed to support an adult or child in an emergency situation, until professional medical help arrives.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (RQF) qualification has been designed for anyone who wishes to learn basic life support skills for adults, children and infants. It is also ideal for those who are qualified in providing first aid and are looking to refresh or develop their existing first aid knowledge.
Overview: During this half day course, learners will be given the opportunity to practise essential basic life support procedures, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, recovery position, CPR and choking.
Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (0.5 Day)
Description: International resuscitation guidelines recommend training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives. This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support (BLS) and AED usage in emergency situations.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.
Overview: Over a half day period, learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR and more.
This qualification can be delivered as a standalone course (minimum of 3 hours 40 minutes) or as a ‘bolt on’ (1.5 hours excluding breaks) to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.
Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (1 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to safely administer medical oxygen in an emergency.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for the treatment and/or management of casualties who need administration of emergency medical oxygen. This qualification is suitable for first aiders operating in a high risk environment, community first responders, cabin/film crew, fire, police and other emergency services personnel.
Overview: Successful learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed for the safe, prompt and effective use of administering oxygen in an emergency. Topics covered include: clinical need for oxygen therapy, oxygen delivery devices and administering emergency oxygen.
Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (0.5 Day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification has been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with emergency first aid situations in a forestry/agricultural context.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid +F (RQF) qualification is ideal for those who work (or intend to work) in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers.
Overview: This short, yet informative course provides learners with the knowledge and practical competencies needed for the treatment of injuries and diseases that could occur whilst working in a forestry/agricultural specific environment. Topics covered are: extreme hot and cold temperatures, managing catastrophic bleeding, crush injuries and Lyme disease.
This qualification is designed to accompany a regulated First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and has been specifically developed to meet the recommendations of the Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy.
Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (2 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in the principles of manual handling when moving objects and people.
Learners also have the opportunity to practise a range of techniques that they can apply to their workplace.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves assisting and moving people. It is ideal for those working in a variety of health and social care environments such as care homes.
Overview: Over a 2 day period, learners will develop the knowledge and skills relevant to manual handling of objects and the safe moving and handling of people. Topics covered include: common handling injuries, the potential impact on a person if moved incorrectly, personal handling plans, preserving dignity, health and safety when moving a person and using equipment.
Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (0.5 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their understanding of the principles of safer manual handling.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF) qualification has been specifically designed for all employees to help raise their awareness of the risks associated with unsafe manual handling practices. It is also ideal for those who might have to carry out manual handling as part of their job such as handling deliveries, parcels and boxes.
Overview: Over a half day period, learners will develop a greater awareness of manual handling, including: common manual handling injuries, the safe movement principles, theory of safe manual handling principles and manual handling equipment.
Level 2 Award in Principles and Practice of Moving People Safely (1 day)
Description: This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with a clear understanding of the principles of moving people safely and includes the opportunity to practise and apply these principles in a variety of situations; individually, in a team, and with the assistance of equipment.
Intended Audience: The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Principles and Practice of Moving People Safely (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves assisting and moving people.
Overview: This 1 day qualification will provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to move people safely whilst ensuring that the risk of personal harm is reduced and that health and dignity are retained.
Topics covered include: the importance of safe manual handling, manual handling risk assessments, personal handling plans, the anatomy of the spine and mechanics of movement, unsafe manoeuvres and much more.
